Credentials:
Michele Hunton joined Lawson & Weitzen as an associate attorney in December of 2007. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College in 2001 and her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006.

At Boston College, Michele participated in the Environmental Scholars Program, of the Watershed Institute of Boston College Law School, where she published an ecological abstract in May 2001.

While in law school, Michele interned at the California Attorney General's Office and the Sierra Club Environmental Law Program. Michele was a Quarterfinalist in the 2006 National Environmental Moot Court Competition at Pace Law School, and served as president of Golden Gate University’s Environmental Law Society.

Upon graduating from law school, Michele clerked at the Superior Court of New Jersey, Civil Division, Essex County, where she prepared civil motions for hearings and drafted judicial opinions.

Practice Description

Michele has an extensive background in permitting and compliance issues involving the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; the Massachusetts Oil and Hazardous Material Release, Prevention, and Response Act; and the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act. She represents clients before state and local boards in regulatory disputes and administrative appeals.

Michele also represents clients in all aspects of environmental litigation as well as other civil litigation matters. She works closely with environment consultants in the analysis of site assessments to ensure compliance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan and other relevant statutory requirements.
