Scott’s criminal practice involves the defense of individuals charged with white collar crimes involving taxes, money laundering, structuring, bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, health care fraud, honest services fraud, wire and mail fraud, RICO conspiracies, and other major crimes. In addition to his private criminal practice, Scott is one of only ninety appointed Criminal Justice Act Attorneys in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts tasked with representing indigent defendants who are charged with federal crimes.
Scott’s civil litigation practice includes governmental/municipal claims, civil rights claims, complex business litigation, commercial and intellectual property litigation, securities and class action claims, SEC investigations, class action suits and personal injury claims.

Scott, a long standing member of the Federal Bar Association, was President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association from 2017-2018. That year, the Chapter received a Presidential Excellence Award from the President of the Federal Bar Association in recognition of the Chapter's "superior chapter activities in the areas of Administration, Membership Outreach and Programming." In 2013 Mr. Lopez received an “AV” Preeminent designation in the Judicial Edition published by Martindale-Hubbell, which rating is based on the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary. Scott lives in Sharon with his wife and three dogs and is an avid golfer.
