Joshua L. Speicher

Described by his clients as thoughtful, responsive, efficient, and trustworthy, Joshua Speicher handles all types of civil litigation, as well as environmental matters. Josh helps clients gain necessary approvals from local conservation commissions and the Department of Environmental Protection and also assists clients with land use, contract, general business, and other disputes.  

Josh has significant experience appearing in front of municipal boards and agencies, which helps him provide thoughtful advice to clients on how best to navigate the complexities surrounding development projects and other real estate initiatives that require state and local approvals. In addition, Josh has significant experience in the courtroom, having handled over 30 jury trials to verdict and countless motions. This ensures his clients get the best representation when litigation becomes necessary.

Prior to joining Lawson & Weitzen in April 2019, Josh served as an Assistant District Attorney for Essex County from 2014-2017, handling prosecution of offenses including firearms violations, drug distribution, domestic violence, and insurance fraud in the district and superior courts. From 2017-2019, Josh worked for the City of Boston as Assistant Corporation Counsel, serving as in-house counsel for the City and multiple departments, representing the Boston Police, Boston Fire Department, and Boston Public Schools, among others.

Josh is also a member of the Board of Directors at Bikes Not Bombs, a local non-profit that empowers women, youth, and people of color in disadvantaged communities, using the bicycle as a vehicle for social change. Josh also enjoys skiing and traveling.

Representative Matters

In June 2019, Josh obtained a plaintiff's verdict after a week-long jury trial in Washington D.C., finding a construction company liable for violating the local consumer protection law in connection with a failed attempt to renovate our client's home.
